BOTANICAL FACT SHEET

Calendula is an annual herbaceous plant that grows to between 12 and 20 inches high. Its branching, angular, hairy stems have alternate, sessile, oblong, spatulate leaves and broad, solitary, terminal capitula with saffron-yellow flowers. Its fruit is a spiny, almost annular, achene. Native to the Mediterranean region, it is now cultivated in all the temperate regions of the world.

TRADITIONAL USES

Calendula flowers are traditionally used externally for their anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and healing properties, and internally as an emmenagogue, choleretic and antispasmodic agent. It is most commonly used in cosmetics and ointments. Marigold is used for its moisturising, softening and healing virtues.

KLORANE Baby

Skin Care

Calendula

The midwife's advice:

• Giving your baby a daily care treatment means giving him an extra
moment of tenderness that is reassuring and beneficial for his emotional balance.
• Daily moisturising strengthens your baby's skin, which is still immature.
Don't forget his hands.
• Choose fine textures that spread more easily.
• Dry skin manifests itself with small, dry, red patches: use a
nourishing cream to be applied several times a day.
• Apply the nourishing cream to the scalp during the night to help eliminate cradle cap.
